TRENDING CABINET STYLES AND FINISHES: SHROCK CABINETS’ EXPERT INSIGHTS FOR 2023

Custom cabinet trends can blow around briskly like the spring winds of Ohio.

A bathroom with a sink , toilet, and mirror.

However, our designers at Shrock Custom Cabinets know what our customers enjoy and what trends are simply passing winds.  We’d like to share an easy trend to incorporate into your kitchen designs specifically, and it’s all customizable - mixed materials!

ADD VERSATILITY

Mixing finishes in your kitchen adds versatility to the space.  Our kitchens have become the center of various functions in the home including cooking spaces, virtual classrooms, and coffee bars.  With these different “centers” there is a greater desire to incorporate a variety of materials to individualize the spaces.

Homeowners can choose metallic accents, for example, in their cooking space while wooden seating and storage can highlight the coffee bar.

CREATE ZONES

With the different functions of the kitchen, a variety of colors or countertops, or wood varieties can encourage boundaries where one zone meets another.  This type of mixing materials helps to structure the environment.  It is important, however, to work with our designers to ensure that your chosen materials will work well together and that they’re durable for the chosen zone.

BLEND YOUR FAVORITES

At times, we decide on a certain theme for our kitchens but have a sentimental piece we’d like to display that normally doesn’t coordinate with that theme.  While using mixed materials you can give yourself permission to blend choices.  If they please you, create a contrast and jump in.

MIX COLORS

Couples often disagree on what colors to use in the kitchen.  Both can be happy with mixed materials.  Bright hues can bring energy to the space while browns add warmth.  Muted colors and pastels add a sense of calm, while patterns bring personality.  Talk with our designers about your ideas for mixed colors.

At Shrock Custom Cabinets, we want to provide inspiration to what could become your favorite room in the home. The ‘Custom’ in our name is all about what you prefer for your cabinetry and kitchen space.  Contact us today to get started creating harmony in your home using mixed materials.
